Thorin, Oakenshield / Thorin Dębowa Tarcza

Hello everyone very welcome!

For some time I leave painting dwarfs, so I decided to end this by something epic.

The truth is that I play for a great feast limited mainly to painting, collectible, and of telling the history of what I have not repaint and what the project does not do;))

Therefore, I decided to do a miniature of Thorin Oakenshield, one of the main characters of The Hobbit. How ever will I play by Dwarfs treasure hunters, the model will do for the commander - but on a daily basis will be just the King under the Mountain.

The Scibors model is armed with a handgun, but other atrubuty we can confidently be considered compatible with the book character - including my little modification - elven sword instead of the original ax.

I invite you!

As a lover of mythology and Norse sagas will tell on the origins of that name of Thorin by master Tolkien, drew from the Prose Edda, and it means bold, brave. Nickname Oakenshield from the same Edda poem, but is listed there as the name of another dwarf Eikinskjaldi - Oakenshield.

The hero of entry, of Thorin was born in 2746 years of the Third Age in the reign of his grandfather, Thror, the son of heir to the throne Erebor, Thrain. When he was 24 years old, the dragon Smaug attacked the Lonely Mountain. Some of the dwarves, among them was also of Thorin, then stayed outside. They saw only the dragon turns the city of Dale in disrepair, and drives the Dwarves of Erebor. Attack the dragon survived but Thrain and Thror, getting out to the surface by the Secret Door.

Thorin and Thrain after finishing the battle, along with a handful of survivors returned to Dunland, and soon moved from there to wander through Eriador, and finally settled in the eastern part of the Ered Luin, the Moon River. Kuli there mostly iron, leading a quiet life. Tribe Durin slowly to arise and sister of Thorin, Dis, was born in 2859 years two sons - Fili and Kili.

Soon, through bad spells ring Thrain began to embrace the growing despair. Soon the king went along with a handful of companions on a journey to Erebou to recover treasures seized by a dragon. But along the way Thrain tracked down and dragged the servants of Sauron to Dol Guldur, where he received the last of the seven dwarves rings. Power after hijacked king took his son, Thorin Oakenshield.

Expedition to Erebor

March 15, 2941 the year Thorin met Gandalf, aimed at Shire. They began by talking and accommodation stood at Bree. The next morning Thorin Gandalf invited to its headquarters in Ered Luin. There wizard presented to the king at the top of its plan to recover the Lonely Mountain. Thorin had to organize an expedition, which would take only a handful of trusted companions, as well as one of the hobbits who could sneak into the lair of Smaug. The wizard appointed to this task halfling Bilbo Baggins, who lives indwelling Hobbiton.

Soon the company of thirteen dwarves came to Bag End, where he was scheduled general meeting of the members of the expedition. Thorin arrived in the company of Gandalf, Bifur, Bofur and Bombur. They knocked at the door of their host Bilbo Baggins. Hobbit yanked the door open, and the guests they fell inside, falling on one another.

Thorin was dressed hood, with a silver tassel, when Gandalf presented him to Hobbit. During the reception he requested a bit of red wine, and after a meal ordered from the company dwarves to play music. Thorin played the golden harp.

After the end of the song, all the dwarves, Bilbo and Gandalf started the conference. The wizard then presented to all the audience his plan to recover Erebor and gave Thorin map of Thror and key, which once belonged to Thrain.
The next day the whole company moved in the way. Among the companions of Thorin were also his nephews Fili and Kili. After a few days wandering found the cave troll, which kept swords once belonging to the Elves of Gondolin. One of them, Orcrist, Thorin took.

Team stopped at the Rivendell, where the local lord Elrond explained the name and origin of the sword found by Thorin and his companions in the cave of trolls. Elrond read the notes on the Map Thror so dwarves have discovered a secret door to Erebor.

After many adventures Company of Thorin reached Esgaroth, a city of people located on Long Lake. Thorin there announced publicly his return, which met with the approval of the residents, who began to tell the old legends about the return of the King under the Mountain. The steward of the city supported the Company of Thorin, providing it with the necessary equipment, of course, counting on the opportunity to acquire part of the treasures of Erebor.

Then the team of dwarves reached the Lonely Mountain and found a Secret Door mentioned by them Elrond. Thorin sent Bilbo Baggins, the burglar, the dragon's lair. Hobbit interrupting the sleep of the dragon and stealing a golden cup provoked fury from Smaug, who flew to Lake-town, to make a cruel revenge on the people for giving dwarves help. Eventually, the monster defeated Bard, the man commanding the defense of the city.

The King Under the Mountain

At the news of the death of Smaug, dwarves fortified in Erebor. When the united army of forest elves and humans from the ruined city Esgaroth came up the hill, Thorin refused to grant them a payment, until the King of the Forest Kingdom, Thranduil, withdraw its troops. In this situation, Bard announced siege up until the dwarves change their minds.

Thorin already at that time with the crows reached an agreement with his relatives Dain Iron Foot wielding the Iron Hills to the army brought up the hill. Thorin who desire only wealth was ready to do battle and starve in Erebor, not just to give people gold.

Concerned participant of the expedition Bilbo Baggins, he would not allow the bloodshed and took the most valuable thing the family of Durin, numbering more that the entire treasure for Thorin - Arkenstone Thrain and gave it to the people and the elves, and they used it as a bargaining chip in the negotiations, Dwarf agreed to provide payment to people but banished from the top of Bilbo who admitted to stealing the jewel.

The Battle of the Five Armies

Not only elves learned of the death of the dragon Smaug. The news had spread like wildfire and goblins of the Misty Mountains gathered, under the leadership of Bolg on Mount Gundabad, stated how marched towards the Lonely Mountain, hoping to seize unattended treasures up.

When the army of goblins and labial reached the Lonely Mountain, she found men, elves and dwarves are preparing to fight for the treasures of Erebor. The wizard Gandalf managed just in time to prevent the fighting and realize rivals upcoming threat. Dain Iron Foot, who brought an army of dwarves, and Thranduil and Bard prepare for an impending attack.

At the critical moment for the free peoples, from the side of Erebor he sounded mighty shout and played the trumpet. Thorin and company of rushed to help, all clad in shining armor. In the twilight figure dwarfs the leader shone like a glowing gold. Thorin was waving an ax, inflicting powerful blows; it seemed that nothing could stop him. The King under the Mountain focused with you people, elves and dwarves. Still, goblins quickly gained the upper hand, enveloping attackers and gunned down one by one. Thorin fell pierced with spears, and Fili and Kili had fallen defending his uncle's own bodies.

The death of Thorin

Beorn in the form of a bear taked wounded dwarf from the battlefield. Eventually, the armies of free peoples have had the victory, thanks to the relief of the Great Eagles. The King under the Mountain deathbed Bilbo Baggins apologized for her anger and harsh words. He praised the virtues of the hobbit, then saying the words: If numerous of us valued above food, joy and songs than gold and jewels, the world would be a happier, then died.
Thorin was buried under the Mountain, Bard made on his chest Arkenstone, and King Thranduil laid Orcrist, the elves took delivery of chief dwarves, when he was with them in captivity. Song proclaim that henceforth, when the enemy was coming, the blade shining in the darkness, so that no one could quietly attack the dwarven fortress. The new king was a cousin of Thorin, Dain II Ironfoot.

Witam wszystkich niezmiernie serdecznie!

Jednak w trakcie drogi Thráina wytropili słudzy Saurona i zawlekli do Dol Guldur, gdzie odebrano mu ostatni z siedmiu pierścieni krasnoludów.

Wyprawa do Ereboru

15 marca 2941 roku Thorin spotkał Gandalfa zmierzającego do Shire'u. Zaczęli w drodze rozmawiać i na nocleg stanęli w Bree. Następnego ranka Thorin zaprosił Gandalfa do swojej siedziby w Ered Luin.

Thorin przybył w towarzystwie Gandalfa, Bifura, Bofura i Bombura. Zapukali do drzwi ich gospodarza, Bilbo Bagginsa. Hobbit jednym szarpnięciem otworzył drzwi, a goście runęli do środka, padając jeden na drugiego.

Thorin odziany był kaptur, ze srebrnym pomponem, kiedy Gandalf przedstawiał go hobbitowi. Podczas przyjęcia zażyczył sobie odrobinę czerwonego wina, a po posiłku polecił krasnoludom z kompanii zagrać muzykę. Sam grał na złotej harfie.

Po zakończeniu pieśni, wszyscy krasnoludowie, Bilbo i Gandalf rozpoczęli naradę. Czarodziej przedstawił wówczas wszystkim zebranym swój plan odzyskania Ereboru i wręczył Thorinowi Mapę Thróra i klucz, które należały niegdyś do Thráina.

Gdy zjednoczona armia leśnych elfów i ludzi znad zrujnowanego miasta Esgaroth przybyła pod górę, Thorin odmówił im udzielenia zapłaty, do czasu gdy król Leśnego Królestwa, Thranduil, wycofa swoje wojska.

Thorin padł przeszyty włóczniami, a Fíli i Kíli polegli broniąc wuja własnymi ciałami.
