I warmly welcome!
The first entry in the series about my new personal project The One Ring today, dealing with the atmosphere of The Lord of the Rings by. J.R.R. Tolkien.
What will characterize this project?
- No GW models (let's say I will add a few that I like, but 90% of them will be minis from other manufacturers).
- Nor will I strictly follow the looks of the characters depicted in Peter Jackson's movies.
It is a fan project, related more to Tolkien's prose than imposing something from GW (which I honestly don't like and do not support since the destruction of the WFB) or presented in the movie trilogy.
As one of my painting idols Bob Ross used to say: "No pressure, absolutely no pressure".
It should be fun and a pleasure to paint!
So much for a lengthy introduction.
The hero of the first post is Aragorn, Globetrotter, Ranger from the North. For its presentation, I used a model from the Rangers of Shadow Deep line, which I recently painted.
While Aragorn was still an infant, his father was shot by an orc. The arrow hit his pupil. In keeping with his family's tradition, he was brought up at Rivendell at the court of Elrond.
At the request of Aragorn's mother Gilraena, his identity was kept secret as he was the only surviving descendant of Isildur, and she feared his death.
So Aragorn was known under the name of Estel (sin. Hope). He learned about his true heritage at the age of 20 (then he had reached the age of majority), receiving Barahir's ring and the remains of Narsil. He took the name of Aragorn II and became the sixteenth chief of the Dúnedain.
The next day, while walking in the woods, he noticed a beautiful girl whom he initially mistooked for Lúthien. They introduced each other and Estel fell in love with her.
Before the fall, Elrond called him into his chamber, having guessed his thoughts. Possessing the gift of clairvoyance, he forbade him to associate with any woman until she regained glory and dignity.
Ranger of the North
After saying goodbye to his mother and foster father, he set off to distant lands and began to fight Sauron. During these journeys, he traveled to Rohan and then to Gondor, where he advised Ecthelion II under the name Thorongil (Eagle of the Star).
He crashed the Umbarian corsairs fleet. After this trip, he did not return to Minas Tirith, but continued his journey. During his journey, he learned to use a sword well, he also had medical knowledge and was a great tracker.
In 2956 TE he met and befriended Gandalf. In 2980 he met Arwen in Caras Galadhon, and they traveled together in Lórien.
He gave her Barahir's ring there, and she promised him loyalty and love. When he returned to Imladris, Elrond promised to give him his daughter on the condition that he would become king of Gondor and Arnor.
After that, Aragorn again set off on a dangerous expedition, wandering through wild lands.
In 3007 TE, he last visited his mother, who had lived with his family for several years, who had died before the following spring.
In 3009 TE set out again to find Gollum, which he succeeded 8 years later.
In 3018 he went to Bree, replacing Gandalf at the Tough Pony Inn, who was to meet the Hobbits there.
Aragorn waited intently and watched the new arrivals. Passepartout's attention was drawn to the sudden disappearance of Frodo, who had just been dancing on the table...
A great depiction if this famous character Michal. I agree with you about GW by the way, and I have a similar concern that Warlord too are aiming for World Domination !
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that!
DeleteThank you also for a kind words sir!

W każdym razie: I want more...
ReplyDeleteDziękuję i cieszę się, że się podoba :-)
DeleteCała ta seria Oathmark, Rangers of Shadow deep wygląda miło i klasycznie Fantasy. Bez jakiś wybujałych zbroi, ubrań. I to lubię ostatnio :-)
Wonderful rendition of the characte, as seen in thefilm - well brought to life.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a kind words sir!
DeleteBest regards
I like your thoughts on this new exciting project!
ReplyDeleteThe sculpt is a good one and with your painting, reminds me of the old animated Lord of the Rings version of Aragorn, far more subtle and brooding than the film's rendition.
Have the same feelings!
DeleteThank you so much!
