The Ikkō-Ikki band (or another peasant rebellion) (Ronin)

 

Hello again!

I invite you to see the full band of the Japanese Ikkō-Ikki sect (or peasant rebelion) for the Ronin game, that I have collected and painted over the last few years.

There are models from Gray For Now Games, Bac Ninh Miniatures and Zenit Miniatures.

Using the miniatures, we can assemble a band of warriors consisting of:
Peasants, Monto, Monto-Gashira, Samurai, Sohei, Hanshou

The Ikkō-Ikki or "Single-minded League", was the largest and most successful of a curious group of Japanese religious and social movements.
Adherents of the Judo-Shinshu Buddhist sect, the Ikko-Ikki rebelled against local daimyos and eventually gained control of 3 entire provinces.

       Ikko-Ikki armies were large and diverse, comprising a mixture of peasants, foo soldiers (Monto), warrior Monks and even Samurai.
Many would have ad hoc armour and weapon, but many would also be virtually indistinguishable from their Bushi equivalents.

       Movement fought many battles againts Bushi and Sohei. The great Samurai warlords Tokugawa and Oda Nobunaga eventually destroyed them as a major force in Japan...
