Muskets and Tomahawks: French Canadian Militia

Hello friends!

Today I invite you to see the entire militia unit from the period of +/-  The French and Indian War 1754 - 1763 (conflict in North America between Great Britain and France, along with their respective Native American allies).

Also pictured are two Iroquois units - one from Northstar Military Figures and one from Warlord Games.
It's slowly time for Compagnies Franches de la Marine...

The French Canadian Militia, also known as "la Milice" in French, was a body of civilian soldiers recruited from the inhabitants of New France, primarily during the colonial period.
It served as a crucial element of the colony's defense, with all able-bodied men aged 16 to 60 obligated to serve.

Organized by parish, it served to defend the colony against Indigenous attacks and provided local administrative support through its officers, who acted as intermediaries between the government and the populace.
The militia was known for its ambush tactics, adaptation to forest warfare, and use of Canadian-style civilian clothing rather than formal uniforms.

  2. Excellent detail work on all of these, the models would work well if someone wanted to reenact the movie Prey as well.
