Hello again!

Another Styriwar knight from ongoing Kickstarter today.
This time polish 13th noble knight in 'Rogala' coat of arms.

Hope you like it!

Styriwar's Kickstarter offers 28mm 3D-printable 12th/13th c. Crusaders -over 120 knight variants, men-at-arms and peasantry.

'Rogala' coat of arms

The oldest colorful source of Polish knightly heraldry is the richly illustrated Lubin Codex with the Legend of St. Jadwiga, drawn up in 1353 on the order of Prince Ludwik I, the ruler of Brzeg on the Oder River. Among the miniatures decorating it, there are two depicting the battle with the Tartars near Legnica (1241), where Prince Henry the Pious fell.

These battle graphic show Polish knights wearing shields with coats of arms: Glaubicz, Grzymała, Brochwicz, Poraj, Rogala, Rotkirch and others.

  7. Nice miniature: we like the resting position of the knight. Your painting work is rightly promoted in the Kickstarter: congrats!
Despite a little research on the web, however, we did not understand whether "Rogala" is the name of a Polish family, or a generic type of coat of arms used by different families. Can you give us some clarification?

    1. Thank you :)

NO. NO. In Poland, different families could have one coat of arms.
'Rogala' in Polish means horns - from the deer horn and aurochs horn shown on the shield.
