Hello!
All Saints' Day celebrations will soon begin in Poland. During these days, we remember those who have passed away, lighting candles in cemeteries (there's nothing more beautiful than an autumn dusk with thousands of cemeteries lit!)
In much of the world, All Souls' Day is also celebrated—from contemplation to Halloween fun. And as every year, in the spirit of the supernatural, I try to prepare a post :)
That's why today I invite you to meet the ghost of a Prussian general!
In the game 'A War Transformed: WWI on the Doggerland Front' – based strictly on the Great War with elements of magic and the occult – we can summon various entities (both larger and smaller).
Ghosts, apparitions, and smaller creatures known from folklore are such smaller manifestations.
----------
There's one problem with the 'A War Transformed' game– it came out just moments before Trench Crusade. And while the latter is a game that evokes trench warfare in a dark/grim sci-fi style, it has nothing to do with World War I.
And I guess I'm getting old, but I prefer the Great War with a little supernatural elements to sick, satanic & blasphemous (oh, I've seen the graphics of crucifixion, the deaths of newborns, etc.) visions. Honestly, I don't want to look at it again...
While some of the models look nice (that new dark/grim sci-fi Prussian set), the overall effect didn't quite click for me. But that's my problem :)
Instead of a slasher movie, I prefer a subtle Victorian horror novel.

He looks suitably ghostly Michal, simple but effective painting!
ReplyDeleteAs to your opinion on Trench War, I have never had any interest in that kind of gaming and sounds like some of the concepts in the back story are a bit extreme!
Thank you!
DeleteYes, it's supposedly "just" a game, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the "background."
And this is coming from a guy who paints German divisions ⚡️⚡️ 😉
Super robota z tym duchem Michał.
ReplyDeleteKolorystyka pasuje do zjawy!

Tomasz
Dziękuję bardzo!
DeleteThat is very nicely done Michal. I suppose WWII and Victorian Pulp have both had the treatment so it was only a matter of time for WWI, but not one that would interest me either.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know what you're talking about.
DeleteThank you very much sir!
Lovely work on your supernatural General! I think weird war ww1 but I'm less keen on trench crusade, luckily I don't have to play everything!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Exactly!
DeleteThank you very much Iain!
A nice little figure Michal 👍
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Matt!
DeleteLovely work Michal
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteNice work on the ghost.
ReplyDeleteperhaps I'm getting older as well, but I am repelled from Trench Crusade for mainly the same reasons. Just not for me. I've heard of "A War Transformed" but haven't really check it out much.
