SAGA: Varangian Guards in Parade Dress (3) finished !!

Witajcie wojownicy!
Dziś ostatni ( jak na razie!) Wareski post. Dokończyłem ostatnich dwóch Strażników.
Mam teraz w pełni pomalowane dwa oddziały, doskonale nadające się do SAGi w roli Heartguardów w armii Bizancjum. Do pełni szczęścia dołączę jeszcze w przyszłości Haralda III Srogiego, czyli Haralda Hårdråde, oddział wojowników bizantyjskich oraz chłopów.
 Hello Warriors!
Today, the last (so far!) Varangian post. I finished the last two Guards.
I now have a fully painted two units, perfectly suitable for the SAGA game, in the Heartguards role in the army of Byzantium. To be completely happy even join, in the future, Harald III Cruel, that Harald
Hårdråde, a unit of the Byzantine warriors and peasants.

Teraz mogłem to zrobić ponownie i to z podstawą historyczną:).
Models of Guards depicted me immensely and pleasant. Despite the specific colors tunics without inhibitions could add rich Byzantine motifs on their shields. I hope you come out satisfactorily for the viewers. Minis sculpture itself, but rather sedate, looks great and majestic beats. Who do not like such "lumberjacks" with two-handed axes?

Once, in the very old days of playing the Dwarfs in WFB tried to stick as much of this type of bearded axemen, with's different - detail shields on the back. Now, I could have done it again and historical base :)

A bit of history:
Varangian Guard was an elite unit in the Byzantine Empire from the 10  to the 14 century. Main were hired with the Scandinavians. The Vikings were very respected warriors for his courage and bravery.
Varangians hired to the Byzantine army for most of the period of his travels, though at first they were usually minor earls single team. As early as 911 years, they have to fight on the Greek side, does not, so far, against it, along with the Dalmatians serving in the Navy during the trip to Crete. They had also to take part in an expedition to the Lombards in Italy in 936 r., And in the fighting in Syria with the Arabs in 955. Known as if they were a "Great Company" ( Μεγάλη 'Εταιρεία).Features Varangians Byzantine Guard were similar to huskarls and hird in Scandinavia and the team in the Slavic countries - above all, they represented bodyguard ruler or his appointed officials and commanders. Later, they took part in the wars in southern Italy, where he fought against the Lombards and the Normans.Despite some contempt by the upper classes, the volunteers remained one of the most prestigious and respected in the army formations Byzantium.Guard showed brutality, but also efficiency - the heroic defense of Constantinople in the Fourth Crusade era.
