I recently painted an excellent, full of details model of the 17th century Gypsy (although this period is very conventional, because you can meet a similarly dressed lady in many cities of my native Poland and beyond).

The Gypsy is dressed in colorful clothes, has a deck of cards, a black rooster in a basket (unfortunately practically invisible) and many, many other flavors.
I also tried a slightly darker skin tone.
