I warmly welcome!
Next painted models for my Bushi Buntai band today, this time Ashigaru armed with yari.
The figures come from a set from North Star Military Figures.
Yari is a spear used by Japanese warriors with a length of 1.5 to approx. 3-4 m, and even over 5 m.
It was ended with a short (30-40 cm) straight blade with three edges or a characteristic "cross" blade (with wings mounted across the blade to prevent the yari from penetrating the target too deeply).
The yari spars were made of oak wood, surrounded by bamboo slats and covered with lacquer. The yari was initially a weapon of Japanese horsemen, with the development of the art of war, its lighter (and with time also longer) versions were equipped with foot troops.
And more about the Ashigaru warriors themselves in the previous post
