Dwarf Merchant Trading Post Guards #4 : The Thunderers and crossbowman

on

Hello!

It has been nearly two years (minus a month!) since my last post about the 'Dwarf Merchant Trading Post Guards' band currently in the works!

If Thorin Oakenshield’s company had taken that long to prepare for their expedition, they never would have reclaimed the lost treasures stolen by the dragon Smaug!

The impetus to paint a few more 'Oldhammer' Dwarfs came from recent photos released by GW showcasing their vision of Dwarfs (a style reminiscent of *The Avengers* meets *Warcraft*). ...and those leaf-blowing 'gales'! Oh...

I definitely prefer the Dwarfs that were with me back in the 90s and early 2000s. That is why another trio of shooters is joining the squad today.

I have one Longbeard left to finish—who will serve as a Thane—along with one more old Bugman's Ranger, whom I’m fielding as a standard warrior.

These dwarves are great Michal - I really like the way you have painted the lantern, particularly!

Fantastic old school Dwarves Michal, the whole group fit together perfectly, but each have their own uniqueness, and have to agree on the new style dwarves do little for me.

Love these Dwarves Michal. I collected quite a few of these as still superior to some of the more modern figures

Brilliant. I love the one with the lantern. He looks like one grumpy dude.

Yup..!! You can't beat old school dwarves, Michal, and you've done these superb sculpts proud. Not a fan of GW's new beardies, so its always a pleasure to see this style of Dwarf properly painted up.

Completely agree on those new designs - GW seems to be trying so hard to make their own style of fantasy, but I feel they totally lost their way by making everything so different from their classic ranges.

Glad you got back to this project though, these new additions are smashing and fit perfectly.

Couldn't agree more ! Even though my dwarves aren't as old as yours, the new ones are definitely a no-go !
